Thanksgiving- A Week of Workouts!

Yes, I am a firm believer of in indulging on Thanksgiving.  Both of our families eat on the same day, so that’s a LOT of yummy food in a 24-hour period.  That is also why I believe in “earning your turkey,” which is what Big Jon and I plan to do this week.  I wrote down my workout plan for Thanksgiving week- mostly to keep myself accountable- but thought I’d share anyway!  I completed Day 1 today. Brutal. It may sound like a lot, but each workout is less than an hour. And I have the week off of work.  That’s doable, right??

Day 1:  1 mile warm-up on elliptical, 4 sets x 20 reps of full body circuit (25 jumping jacks between each exercise)

  • kettle bell swings with squat
  • assisted pullups
  • lunge variations
  • pushup variations
  • deadlifts

Day 2: run 3 miles on trail & Insanity Pure Cardio DVD

Day 3: Jamie Eason lower body workout + abs

(3x12, 1 min rest in between)

  • leg press
  • leg extensions
  • wide stance barbell squat
  • seated leg curl
  • standing calf raise
  • seated calf raise

Abs: (x25 each exercise)

  • bicycles
  • double crunch
  • reverse curls
  • crunches on ball

Day 4: Jillian Michaels Yoga DVD (level 1)

Day 5: Run 4 miles outside, Jamie Eason back & bicep workout

(3x12, 1 min rest in between)

  • wide grip lat pulldown
  • one arm dumbbell row
  • seated cable rows
  • underhand cable pulldowns
  • dumbbell alternate bicep curl
  • one arm dumbbell preacher curls
  • standing biceps cable curl

Day 6: REST!!!

Day 7: Long run (back to training for my next race in January!)

What are your workout plans to EARN YOUR TURKEY for Thanksgiving??

What’s your favorite indulgence on Turkey day??

{I love stuffing, sweet potato soufflé, and pumpkin pie!!}

I made sure to leave your post to read last, as I am going to finish this cup of coffee and head to the gym! Thanks for the motivation. I'm looking for some new back workouts--upper and lower. Things need to firm and tighten better! Any suggestions? PS...I cannot wait for the stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. yum.

I love the idea of "earning your turkey"! A little to late to jump in the game for Thanksgiving, but plan to plan ahead for Christmas. So much better than feeling guilty and needing to work it off after. Happy workouts!
