Food for Thought Friday: What is consuming your thoughts??

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." -Phil 4:8

It is SO easy for our thoughts to be consumed by things of this world.  Our wants & desires, our circumstances, our goals, and relationships.  I'm not saying those are in any way bad things, but when they take our eyes off Jesus, they become a distraction.  We are often blinded to distractions that hinder our relationship with the Lord because they aren't the typical "negative distractions" we think of, such as addiction, lust, and materialism.  It's important to spend quiet time with God and do some self- reflecting.  Sometimes He will reveal distractions in our life and help us get our priorities back in line.  When we keep Him first, everything else falls into place.  No, life will not be perfect, but it's certainly better to be in God's will than our own.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." -Romans 12:1-2
