I started this post 5 months ago, so he has grown & changed tremendously even in the last 5 months! Here is a little about our Jase.
Jase:
- is hilarious! He makes us laugh with some of the funny things he says. Half the time I feel like he’s a mini teenager.
- is all boy! He went through a phase where he loved to talk about “doo doo” and he thinks pooting is hilarious. If I ever try to ask him serious questions, he answers with “poo poo.” Yes, I’m working on raising a little gentleman.
- memorized the whole first part of the Cubbies c.d. He LOVES to sing, but bless him…probably not any solos in his future.
- LOVES to run. Would run ALL day long! He loves to play tag and will do things to get others to chase him.
- has started praying and I almost cry every single time. (and now he won’t do it anymore.)
- tells dad he’s going to be taller than him.
- is a pretty strong dude.
- eats an apple every night before bed. (He’s stopped that now, but did that for about a month straight.)
- saw his first movie. We took him on a “Jase only” date night. He LOVED it!
- likes to stretch out and show us that he’s growing.
- wants to show us things he can do (like balance on one foot, jump, etc.)/& things he’s built.
- is such a helper & has a servant’s heart. Loves to hold the door open for people. Likes to share with Kade.
- calls Kade “Baby Kade”
- has dropped his nap but still needs it. I’m just torn because when he falls asleep, he usually has a tough time falling asleep that night and stays awake way too late. But, we have a rough little patch around 3:30 most afternoons and I know it’s because he is sleepy. I try to have quiet time for him.
- gets embarrassed easily. I remember being that way when I was little too.
- has breathing issues triggered by swimming in indoor pools. Overall his breathing seems to have improved dramatically since I’ve added the pink Himalayan salt lamps to the house.
- is adjusting incredibly well to all of our transitions/moves. The first house we lived in after we sold our house was on the lake & he called it the “cavit” (cabin). Sometimes he asks me if this house is ours or if we’re going to move again.
- He caught a fish with Uncle Will while we were living on the lake.
- started sleeping in a big boy bed in October when we moved. He adjusted super well & did great.
- has started making some of the funniest facial expressions.
- loves to lay on brother & knock him over.
- BUT is starting to play really well with him too. Talks about protecting him & lets me know if Kade is doing something that could hurt him. Then he likes me to hug him and tell him “thank you for being a great big brother and watching out for baby Kade!”
- has an excited voice is pretty much my favorite sound ever.
- loves all things tractors.
- wears a size 10.5 shoe (that he is about to outgrow), 4T pants, 5T shirts.
- loves to build & fix things with Daddy!! Anything! He is a great builder & very creative.
- learned to ride a bike (with training wheels) after Christmas. His helmet doesn’t fit, so we need a bigger one.
- wants to be JUST like Daddy.
- says “See Baby Kade, that’s how you do it” when he does something he knows is right.
- asks “Mama, are you so proud of my good manners? Do you love that?”
- Can sing his ABCs, count to 16 (17-20 get a little cray), & can recite several Bible verses.
- LOVES going to church!!
- started calling me “mommy” out of the blue
- really enjoys sitting in my lap and reading books before bed. (FINALLY!) He says “Whoa mom, your belly is so big.”
- favorite toys: was trucks, now magnets that he can build with
- SO creative! Loves to build/design/fix things.
- has incredible problem solving skills for his age. This is definitely going to be one of his areas of strength.
- loves to dig, dump things out, & crush boxes. He calls himself the crusher.
- loves to “work” with Daddy & Papa.
- is becoming more independent. Can make his own water, brush his own teeth (but I still go behind him), etc.
- started peeing standing up several months ago when he became tall enough & also likes his privacy when going to the bathroom.
- finally stopped fussing when we put water on his head to rinse out shampoo & likes to take showers now.
- sleeps from 8:30/8:45 to about 9 am
- looks like such a big boy after a hair cut!
- struggles with obedience when he is hungry or tired. also started testing some boundaries & we had to crack down on his behavior. Still working on it but definitely improving.
- has a smile that will seriously melt your heart!
- started stuttering some before having another vocabulary boom. Can communicate VERY well for his age.
- loves to proudly show me his outfits after daddy gets him dressed. Tells me “don’t look yet” and then runs over to show me.
- runs and hugs me SO big in the mornings! Asks where daddy is if he’s gone working on the house.
- favorite foods: oatmeal, boiled eggs, pancakes & waffles, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, Ezekiel toast with Greek yogurt and cinammon, apples, bananas, strawberries, cucumbers, homemade sweet potato chips, cereal, popcorn, chicken, fish, tuna, pickles, hamburgers, spaghetti, homemade pizza
- LOVED Christmas this year. Still talks about it.
- loves to wrestle with Daddy.
- says he “misses _______ so much” and wants to “see them right now”
- didn’t want to accept that his Aunt Jimmy is having a baby.
- talks about “Baby Beau” a lot.
- looks so much older than he is because he is SO tall for his age.
- isn’t very affectionate with other people but loves to give me lots of hugs.
- has an incredible memory. It blows our mind some of the stuff he remembers. One of the books we read MONTHS ago was about building a dam, and he still remembers. He built this one the other day.
- did an awesome job at his dentist appointment! He still sucks his thumb at night or when he’s really sleepy. I am going to try to get him to quit soon because it’s affecting his bottom teeth.
Sweet Jase- You are a LEADER. You are a world changer. You are a champion. You are fearfully & wonderfully made in God’s image. You are so very special to your dad & me. We love you more than words & we are having such a blast watching you grow. (And boy are you growing fast!) I am so, so very proud to be your mom and cannot wait to see the BIG plans the Lord has in store for your life. I know He has a mighty calling on you.
