Last year we spent our anniversary in Jacksonville, and this year we headed up to Grand Rapids, Michigan! We had a BLAST!!!
We had a 10:30 am flight and seriously made it by the skin of our teeth. Somehow we just ended up leaving way later than we should have. Between meeting my mom with the boys, ATL traffic & airport security, it was a close call. We had Sky Priority seats and were boarding when we arrived at our gate. I told Jonathan that life with me is always an adventure!
Dave, Kelly, & cutie Sophia picked us up from the airport & took us to eat at a local restaurant for lunch. The food was delicious, but the company was even better. We enjoyed getting to know Dave & Kelly even better.
They showed us around their lovely home, and then Jon headed to Reed & Emily’s house with Dave while I went with Kelly to pick up the girls from school. They were SO precious & totally stole my heart! I also got to meet Kelly’s sweet mama.
Reed & Emily’s home is absolutely gorgeous too! We had a great mixer Friday night & heard some awesome stories from champions on the Michigan team.
If you’ve ever been to an event we are part of, you know that 1.) We LOVE AdvoCare and are super passionate about sharing with others because we know it can be life changing, and 2.) We have a BLAST. Seriously, it’s so much fun to us. We love what we do and we LOOOOOVE these Michigan folks, so it was a really great way to spend our anniversary.
After the mixer, we had a team dinner & celebrated our anniversary and Reed’s birthday with pie. (and Carb Ease of course)
Happy birthday, Reed!
My mom kept the kids for us, so I took a Sleep Works (pumped and dumped) & got a GREAT night’s sleep. I woke up so refreshed.
The next morning we had an awesome meeting & training. Great stories and great energy in the room.
They totally spoiled us for our anniversary too. We weren’t expecting anything, but everyone was so thoughtful & we truly appreciated all the northern hospitality. A bag full of goodies- “the best apples ever” (according to Jon), doughnuts, a gift card, cards, balloon, snacks, and cute Michigan t-shirts.
I couldn’t get over how green the grass was everywhere too.
It wasn’t nearly as cold as I was expecting (thankfully…I left my parka at home), but it was definitely a lot chillier than Georgia.
We flew home Saturday early afternoon, so it was a really short but sweet trip.
I pumped in the lavatory (airplane bathroom) on the flight there and flight home. They checked my milk in security. The worst part of the whole trip was breaking a nail trying to get my luggage out of the overhead bin. (I know, so girly, but it hurt!)
We landed at the international terminal, & the train in the airport was down so we walked a looooong ways across the airport to get to our car. Seriously, it was probably a couple of miles. We didn’t mind getting some exercise, and I was SUPER thankful I ended up wearing my trusty ole boots that are so comfy.
I know it may sound cheesy, but I don’t care what we’re doing as long as we’re together. Jonathan and I both had a great time & I am so thankful I get to do life with him. He is an incredible husband, daddy, and leader…and I would follow that man to the ends of the earth.
We will be “celebrating” our 5th anniversary on a big trip around the Caribbean in December. Can’t wait!
Thank you again for having us, Michigan friends!! Y’all were awesome hosts and it was so wonderful spending time with all of you.
And happy anniversary, babe! 5 years and going strong.
