Jase Update!! 2 Years & 4 months

Our last update was at 2 years & 2 months on July 20th, 2015.

I can’t BELIEVE how much you have changed and grown over the last 2 months!! You are now 2 years and 4 months- 28 months.

  • You can sing your ABC’s and can identify all of your letters. I think you learned them from a Youtube video you like to watch sometimes, but we practice with the foam letters in your room too. (You put them on your head one time and started gagging because you don’t like ANYTHING touching your neck!)

  • You can count to 15, and you can count to 5 on your hand. (sorta)
  • You started watching Lion King in the car and LOVE to sing the songs!! Your favorite is “kuna tata”….Hakuna Matata.
  • You love to play with your trucks. Any trucks.

  • You really like to dig in the backyard and help Daddy work. You can name a ton of tools. And P.S. Your daddy is a STUD. WHoa…hot! (Ha! I’m sure you’ll be rolling your eyes by the time you’re old enough to read this.)

  • You love to play in the water! We’ve taken you swimming a few times. You like for us to hold you in the water though. And you braved it down a pretty big water slide at the beach with us a few times. We also had fun at a big slip n slide for your cousin Casey’s 30th birthday. You loved going down it with Jimmy.

  • You like to play at the sink and “help mama with dishes.” You bring the stool over yourself.
  • You also like to help me make “snacks” (no bake energy bites)  and roll them into balls. You always ask “have it? can I have it Mama?”
  • You love to eat crackers with Papa.
  • Your new thing is to ask where everybody is. “Where’s Papa at? where’s Jimmy (AKA Aunt Jade) at? Where’s Grammy & Granddaddy and Carsyn and Tammie at?” and on and on….
  • You wake up around 9 am and holler downstairs for me or Daddy. You say “Mom, Dad, come get me! Ready to get up!”
  • You are back to eating healthier for the most part. For breakfast you eat eggs, oats, waffles, or Ezekiel toast with yogurt. Lunch and dinner varies, but some of your favorites are peanut butter sandwiches/crackers, tuna, grilled fish, sweet potatoes, green beans, black beans, spaghetti, watermelon, bread, fried shrimp, broccoli, almonds, oranges, pickles, yogurt, and cereal. You also love “green juice” I make from veggies in the juicer. You like to help me wash the vegetables and hand them to me to put in the juicer. You’ll eat kale chips too.

  • You have a great heart for sharing & taking care of others.  That sweet heart of yours is my favorite thing about you, Jase.
  • If one of us gets hurt (usually me), you say “Oh, I’m sorry Mama.” And give it a quick little peck kiss. Totally unprompted.
  • You LOVE your baby brother and you are the sweetest big brother to him. You are so very helpful & considerate. You always hand us his paci & blanket and love to talk to him in the sweetest voice. You love to hold his hand (and maybe squeeze a tad too hard) and kiss his head. You try to hand him toys and you always want to know where he is. You tell us to be quiet when he’s sleeping.

  • You go to bed between 8:30 and 9 (a little later than I would like) and take a 3 hour nap during the day. You’re a sleeper! Sometimes when you wake up, you’re not ready to get up yet and you like to just lay in your bed for a little while. You’re still sleeping in a crib but with the mattress on the floor because you flipped out of it once.
  • You prefer to take a shower and Daddy usually takes care of that.
  • You are a champ at brushing your teeth and have learned to spit.
  • We are practicing “run” and then “freeze.”
  • You know the verses “Trust in the Lord with all your heart” and “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
  • You like to sing & dance! We call it “happy feet” when you get super excited to see Braylon.
  • You have really started enjoying your toys and play independently with them.
  • Papa gave you a helmet and “whistle.” You love the toys he gives you.

  • You flew with us to Texas and did AWESOME! I think this was your 4th or 5th time flying. I was nervous because you’re big enough to want to run around now, but you did great. Again, we are not above bribery with suckers.

  • You were so worn out from our trip that you fell asleep in the car. That rarely happens.

IMG_8081

  • You got your first bro tank.

IMG_3175

  • But prefer to be shirtless. And you looooooove your daddy. He’s the best!

IMG_8148

  • You are super tight with your Papa & Granddaddy too though.

IMG_8157

  • You like to make towers.

IMG_8217

  • And had a blast on our beach trip! This was the first time we’ve been to the beach where you were big enough to enjoy it. You really liked playing in the sand.

IMG_3268IMG_3291IMG_3382

  • And you soaked through your swim diaper and peed on the ground. Ooops!

IMG_3448IMG_3449

  • You finally started to like wearing hats. You love Daddy’s hat from Mexico.

imageimageIMG_7855

  • And you are straight up into everything! Sometimes when I’m nursing brother, you like to get a little adventurous.

imageimage

  • You love to play with your friends.

imageimage

  • And your new thing is to pretend you’re asleep! It’s HILAROUS.

imageimage

  • We bribe you with suckers for haircuts. Works like a charm.

image

  • You are REALLY starting to use your imagination, and it is SO much fun to watch! And holy PERSONALITY….Ahhhhhh, so stinkin fun.

image

  • You rarely get in trouble, but when you do it’s for disobeying.
  • We are planning to start potty training soon. Right now you wake up wet every morning because you like to drink water before bed, so we’ll have to break that habit.
  • We have to make sure we use bug spray because mosquitos flock to you.
  • You are always asking “Daddy, what are you doing? Mama, what is that? What’d you do that for?” You’re getting really curious & like to learn.
  • You love to read before bed and finally sit in my lap for us to read. Your current faves are “If You Give a Dog a Doughnut” that Grammy got you and “Have You Seen my Dinosaur?”
  • You told your daddy the other day “You betttttttter run! I’m gonna get you!” and started chasing him.
  • You really like to play in the playroom in our basement and help daddy in his shop. We go down there during your brother’s nap and me and you have dance parties to the Dirty Dancing channel on Pandora.
  • I love your manners. It melts me heart when you say, “Oh thank you Mama, thank you!” even for little things. You typically say please, thank you, you’re welcome, and before getting down from the table you ask your daddy “May I be excused please?” We’re working on yes/no ma’am and sir, because right now when we tell you to do (or not do) something you say “Oh, okay.” (Your little voice is PRECIOUS!)

Sweet Jase- You are SO precious and it is an absolute JOY to watch you grow. You have so much personality and make us laugh every day. Your daddy & I are always talking about the fun new things you’re doing/saying, and I’m pretty sure we both light up when we’re talking about you. You are very helpful, considerate, and caring. You like to “work.” I hope we can continue to nurture all of those things because those are some of my favorite things about you. I pray that you will “grow in wisdom & stature, and favor with God and man” and also be disciplined in important life areas. I pray the Lord will bless, empower, anoint, and protect you always. I pray he surrounds you with the right people that point you toward Him. I pray for your future ministry and family, most specifically your wife. I pray you will be honest, humble, and a LEADER; a man among men and a man after God’s own heart. I pray you will hate evil and flee from sin and temptation. I pray you love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and have discernment from the truth of God’s Word hidden in your heart. I pray you are a difference maker and others are drawn to Christ’s light in you. You are a champion and we are SO proud to be your parents. I could not have dreamed of a better little guy to make me a mama for the first time. We love the privilege of being able to raise you. You make my heart so happy, sweet boy. xoxo
