#babybutlernumerodos is 28 Weeks!!

7 months pregnant and less than 12 weeks to go!

Growth:

By this week, your baby weighs 2 1/4 pounds (about the size of a large eggplant) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels.

He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through my womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

My Symptoms: I have been pretty tired this week. I feel like my belly button might burst because he is right behind it and that’s where I feel the majority of the movement. Other than that though, I feel great & can’t complain! Still loving being pregnant and am thankful for another great pregnancy.

Weight/Baby Bump: At my appointment on Tuesday I was up +15 lbs from pre-preg weight. Looking at this bump though, you’d think I was due any day! Hard to believe we have about 12 more weeks of growing. My belly just gets BIG. I don’t mind it though. Sweet reminder of that precious life I get to grow! I did have a dream one night this week that I had an ultrasound and there were actually 5 babies in there…4 boys and 1 girl!! Whoa!!! Can you even imagine the size of the belly I would have if that were real?? #wokeupsweating

Hahah! After he took this one, Jon said “Babe, you may wanna cover that up.” I can’t believe that thing ever goes back to normal, but it does.

Appointment: I had my appointment on Tuesday this week & it was full of being poked with needles. I really think the Lord is delivering me from my fear of them. I just don’t look and don’t even think about it and it’s not too terribly bad. I used to legit almost pass out at the thought and get major anxiety about it.

At this appointment I had the glucose test & should get results soon. I chose the orange drink again, and maybe it’s the fat kid in me, but I don’t think it tastes that bad. To me it tastes like an orange Fanta and the worst part is definitely skipping breakfast. Makes me feel kinda crummy all day when I don’t eat something within 30-45 minutes of waking up. I also had my finger pricked to check my iron which was great. They want it to be over 11 and mine was 12.9. Thank you great vitamins! I also got the Rhogam shot because have Rh negative blood type. (FYI- my arm was CRAZY sore the next day.) AND I got the DTap booster in the hip. (Told ya it was a lot of needles.) That joker HURT!!  My doctor said the APA is now recommending expecting moms to get the booster while pregnant rather than right after so the baby can start building immunity in utero. The antibodies don’t actually cross the placenta so it’s safe, and they continue to come through mom’s breastmilk when you nurse. He said if I was his daughter he would want me to have it, so that was all I needed to hear. He did recommend for dad to go ahead and get a booster too though, so Jon will be heading to the health department soon. As far as the rest of the appointment, my blood pressure was 106/68 and the baby’s heart beat was a strong and healthy 144. I was measuring right at 28 weeks and everything looked good. I will start going every 2 weeks from here on out. That means it’s getting realllllllll.

Gender: Sweet baby boy.

Maternity Clothes: Yes, and it is finally WARRRRRRM  outside! Hallelujah!! Seriously, this weather is perfect. I can’t even remember the last time I had a manicure or pedicure, but it’s sandal season in Georgia, folks, so it’s time. Ready for some comfy cotton dresses and skirts. (Maternity pants are way overrated to me anyway.)

And this isn’t clothes related, but I did chop my hair this week. I really love short little bobs so I thought I was ready for a change. Not that I will start actually doing my hair now either, but I’m kinda regretting  cutting it. Maybe I just need to get used to it? Thankfully it’ll still go into a ponytail & will grow quickly.

Here’s the before and after. It was some MAJOR inches off!

Movement: I actually Googled to see if there is such a thing as “too much movement” and if it’s anything I should be alarmed about. This boy is WILD. And STRONG. I even asked the doctor about it. Of course it’s just a sign of a healthy baby, but he did say after 4 kiddos himself, he and his wife have determined that how they act in the womb is how they’ll act outside. Sooooo, after this baby is born…Spark?? Make it a double. Mama’s gotta keep up with the boys!

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping pretty well but taking daily naps. I personally take KILLER naps in our guest bed, so I’ve been sneaking upstairs during Jase’s nap. It makes me function better the whole rest of the day so I’d say it’s a win all the way around. Jonathan usually goes to the gym while we sleep.

Also, lots of people have asked about the tart cherry juice. Here’s the kind I drink. I find it in the organic section at the grocery store. 1/2 cup at night (through a straw) does the trick for me. A former co-worker’s wife is a pharmacist and recommended it. Since I can’t have Sleep Works when pregnant, this is my alternative.

Cravings/Aversions: Ummmmmm, this. Every day. Sorry y’all, they’re already sold out. No aversions that I can think of…

Work Outs: Chasing Jase around. I have decided that TOTALLY counts for a work out. And if you don’t believe me, come on over and give it a whirl. He will give you a run for your money!! Alllllllll boy.

Goals for next week: Do some yoga/stretching. Start thinking about the nursery & registering. Announce the name. Get caught up on the blog. Finish taxes. (ummmm, this is the exact same list as my 24 week post because I haven’t done any of this yet…time to get on it!)

Thoughts: I think I am taking the whole “relax and soak up pregnancy” thing a little too seriously. We haven’t even started preparing at all yet and have nothing ready. NOTHING. I haven’t even been doing pregnancy stretches. Jon has started working on finishing the basement so we can move one of the guest bedroom sets down there and start working on the nursery, so I guess that counts, right? We have also debated about whether to convert Jase’s bed to a big boy bed and just buy a new crib or get a new bed for Jase and give the baby his crib. Honestly, I am in NO RUSH to put Jase in a big boy bed or convert his, so we are leaning towards getting a new crib. I don’t really understand why people are in such a hurry for their kids to grow up? He does awesome in his crib and sleeps like an angel, so as far as I see it, why mess with a good thing? Jase’s nursery furniture was super nice & pretty expensive. Real wood. And he pretty much gnawed off all of the finish when he was teething, so… we’re just going to go cheaper this time.

I’ve also had a little bit of anxiety about the actual labor and delivery. For some reason it just keeps popping in my head that I’m going to have a c-section again, so I’m not sure if that’s the enemy trying to plant fear or the Lord trying to prepare me. Honestly, as long as the baby gets here healthy, I’ll be super thankful. If there is one thing I learned from having Jase it’s that I am NOT in control. And for that, I am learning to be content and thankful! I definitely trust the Lord’s plans. Jonathan reminds me allllll the time that we want this baby to come however God wants to get him here and be 100% confident. There is definitely rest in that.

I'm glad your pregnancy is going so well! I love your new haircut! This might sound like a random question, but could you do an eye makeup tutorial at some point? I love your eye makeup and am curious what products/techniques you use!

I was in no rush to get my son out of his crib before his sister was born either. You need Jace to be sleeping as good as he can when you're up with the new baby. We did, however, convert his crib with a rail soon after baby was born. I found it to be much easier when I would be nursing or resting for him to be able to get out of bed and come to me instead of calling for me in the monitor.
