Mother’s Day 2014

Moms are so SPECIAL!! Now that I am a mom (this was my second Mother's Day), I have learned to appreciate mothers on a whole new level. My whole life I have wanted to be a wife and mommy, and I am so thankful the Lord put that desire in my heart and fulfilled those desires in HIS perfect timing. Shout out to ALLLLLL the mamas! Biological moms, adoptive moms, foster moms, single moms, step moms, future moms, moms-to-be, hoping-to-be-moms, & grandmothers : raising up the next generation is no easy task, and you ladies are awesome.

{My first Mother’s Day: 2013}

I don’t know who thought of Mother’s Day, but what a great way to honor the women in our lives & let them know we appreciate them.

My mom is  absolutely PRECIOUS to me (and to anyone else who knows her.) She is so full of wisdom, an incredibly smart business woman, very crafty and talented, a super hard worker, generous beyond words, and the BEST Grammy on the planet. Jonathan loves her too, which also means a lot to me. She gives the best advice & is always there when any of us kids or grandkids need her.

Mama, I love you more than words and am so thankful for the sweet relationship we share. Happy Mother’s Day to you!! (FYI: If any of you have ever considered adoption, I want you to know that it is such a special and unique bond. As an adopted child, I can tell you that it is an incredible blessing.)

I am surrounded by fantastic women & am so lucky to have such great examples all around me-people who help me be a better mom. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the other special moms in my life; my mother-in-law, my sisters and sis-in-law, mentors at church, and my best friends that are new mommies. Love all of you so very much.

This Mother’s Day, Jonathan bought me some new tennis shoes. It’s no secret that we enjoy working out, & although I could care less about any fancy smancy workout gear, I do make sure have fresh kicks when ours start wearing out. Tennis shoes are one thing we I (Jonathan always puts it off because he is going to “find them cheaper online”…and then never orders them) have no problem splurging on because we know it’s important to take care of your feet. Having a good cushion and support helps protect your spine, alignment, and other joints, especially with high impact activities like kickboxing (our new fave).

I know the new trend is crazy bright colors (I don’t even know what they’re called- highlighter colors), but I am not a fan. We are pretty simple over here! Jon’s favorite color is grey and that has rubbed off on me too. These were the most normal pair I could find.

We woke up Mother’s Day morning and got ready for church like normal. Jonathan is always super helpful around the house and with Jase, but he went above and beyond all day taking care of everything so I didn’t lift a finger. And I was NOT complaining about the view!! I married a stud! (P.S. I love that Jase just lays there and reads his books while Jon changes him. I try distracting him too…ummmmm, it’s straight up like wrestling an alligator. I think since his daddy is so good at it he should do it ALLLL the time, right?) In all seriousness, I pray Jase is as good of a husband to his wife as Jonathan is to me. Two words: Husband jackpot.

After church we went to my mom’s for brunch & met the whole fam there. Love when we all get together. There is always a spread at the Rainey get togethers- yum!

Sooooo….I’m not sure if I’m a major trend setter or what (hah!) but apparently jean jackets are making a comeback? I’ve been rockin mine since 1999. I didn’t know they ever went out, but guess I’m ahead of the curve!

We also sang “Happy Birthday” to Trey. Happy b-day, bud!

We went home & Jon worked around the house while me and Jase took a nap. There were no evening services at church that night, so we went out to dinner so I didn’t have to cook. It was Jase’s first time eating corn, and he tore.it.up! He loved it!! Like father, like son. I saw a few students I used to teach while we were there too- they looked so grown. One girl I taught worked at the restaurant, and she came up to me when Jon walked away to tell me “all the girls who work here think your husband is sooooo hot!!!” Hahha! He doesn’t even have a clue how good looking he is either, which makes him that much more attractive. I just cracked up and told her thank you; I have good taste.

It was a beautiful day.

I am so thankful God chose me to be Jase’s mom & I was given the gift of motherhood through this sweet angel baby. Being a mom is my faaaaaavorite!! Thank you, Lord for allowing me such a special job.

Happy Mother’s Day to all!
