Jase is 26 Weeks!!

October 31- November 6

Weight: We go back to the doctor soon for 6 week shots and I can't wait to see his growth! I don't feel like he is growing as much...he seemed to get big fast and now he's plateaued some. Hoping the doctor says that's normal. He is probably about 17 lbs now, so double his birth weight.

He is for real wearing some 12 month and 18 month clothing though....it's crazy. Jon was itching to buy him some footsie pajamas since it's getting cooler and he insisted we get 9 months. YEA RIGHT!! Poor Jase is busting at the seams and they aren't near long enough. I couldn't help but sing "Fat man in a little coat" when I was trying to put him in them.

Health: Whew! Wonder week in the HOUSE!!! That Wonder Week stuff is LEGIT. (You can download the app & track your baby's leaps.)  I also think he is having a 6 month growth spurt. So needless to say, with that sweet combo, we’ve had some tough naps and he’s cried and fussed more than I’ve ever really heard before. He’s lost his “sweet cry” too. Oh joy! Yep, we’ve heard some serious screaming a few times this week.

(FYI- This is NOT how he is fastened in his car seat. I snapped some pics before we got him tightened up and the chest clip moved to his actual chest.)

Such a cutie patootie in his hats...thanks, Linz!

Sleep: Naps were not so hot this week, and he woke up during the night several nights this week too. After reading BabyWise blog about dropping naps, I am thinking Jase may be showing signs of being ready to drop his evening nap. I tried one day, but he got pretty fussy so we just put him down. I decided to wait, and I really think it’s from the growth spurt and time change. Time change was pretty tough on us & he’s been waking up way earlier. We’re about to crack down and get serious about his consistent awake time.

I will say, we have had LOTS of sweet, sweet snuggles this week though…love my cuddly boo.

Nursing: No more biting this week- whew! He is getting super distracted when he eats and it takes forever. I try to limit distractions, but our curious lil dude wants to be all up in everything going on around us.

What Jase is up to: Saying "Mama" FOR SURE.

Getting so ready to crawl!

Started eating big boy food. (I cut back to just avacado to make sure he doesn't have a reaction. He does NOT like them....even after 3 days. We started some scrambled pasteurized egg yokes too and he seems to like the taste better.

Meeting Emily (Mom's dog)...and he LOVED her! Unfortunately she didn't share the same sentiments toward him. Poor puppy. Ha!

Neighborhood walks are the best.

Post-Partum: I feel awesome!! I think this kickboxing has really revved up my metabolism and I’ve been eating super, super clean. That always helps.

I have had a little bit of baby fever for a few weeks, but plan to wait a bit longer (18 months to 2 years) so I can attempt a VBAC. (I think…still praying, but either way, making a baby is SERIOUS work and our bodies NEED time to recover.)

Thoughts: Even though this was a “tougher” week (and I definitely say that lightly), I know I am so blessed beyond measure. Baby Jase, you are the sweetest, most precious blessing and we fall more and more in love with you at every new stage. You are SO much fun & really starting to get some personality. You smile at pretty much everyone now & are learning so many new things.

My children are 18 months apart and although it can be tough, I wouldn't have done it any other way. They are now 8 (boy) and 6 1/2(girl) and are each other's best friends. They are very much into the same things which is such a blessing.

Hi Danielle,
I've recently started reading your blog since I saw your "Godly Wife" post on Pinterest. I loved it! I've been married for 4 years and we just had our second baby girl 2 months ago. She was a VBAC!
My first labor/delivery is so similar to your story. I had an amazing midwife and was hoping for a natural birth, but instead after being a week past my due date and my baby being slightly distressed...I had to be induced, ended up on pitocin, labored for 2 days in the hospital and my body never progressed past 7cm....which all ended in a csection. I was disappointed, but the whole process really humbled me and I learned, once again, that God was in control and He knew what was best for me.
I got pregnant a few months after my daughter turned one. I was so excited to have a VBAC, but had to battle fears that the same thing would happen again. I didn't want any pain meds either. God answered all my prayers! My labor WAS completely different and my body knew exactly what to do this time. I had a doula who was amazing and my husband was so helpful during it all. Pushing a baby out was so much harder and more painful than I could have ever imagined, but it was also so beautiful.
The parallels of enduring the pain and suffering of childbirth with the anticipation of meeting your baby are exactly how Jesus describes what this world will be like with the anticipation of meeting Him! It was such a spiritual experience! As painful as it was I loved having experienced an unmedicated VBAC!
I just want to encourage you that VBAC's are more successful than unsuccessful. They always say the second one is quicker too. I was only in active labor for 5 hours and I pushed for 30 minutes and the recovery is SO much easier than a csection.
God wants to give you the desires of your heart....I really hope you can have a VBAC with your next baby. :)
