Jase’s Fourth Week

These weeks are just FLYING!! Now I totally “get it” when people tell me to soak up every second because it flies by so fast! Jase’s 4th week was from May 29th to June 5th.

Weight: I cannot wait for our next appointment to see how much our lil man has grown!! His face is definitely fattening up and his little legs and arms (and belly!) are getting thicker too. And he is so LONG! He does NOT look like he is only 4 weeks old to me!

As far as mommy…My tummy is looking a little flatter this week, but I’m still about 2 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. I cannot WAIT to work out again!!

Health: Can we slow this down a little? Look how GROWN UP he looks!! And he is such a big boy holding his head up!!

Jase is the SWEETEST smelling baby…EVER!!! I LOOOOOOVE to cuddle and kiss all over his sweet little face- I just can’t get enough of that smell!!

His little baby acne is still the same, but my goodness….he’s still the most precious thing ever!!

And his hair is continuing to fall out, but the fuzzy blonde hairs are making their appearance. When I started to think about it, most of the people I know whose baby’s hair has fallen out has ended up coming back in blonde. Anyone else notice that? I know my dark hair all fell out & I was way bald for a while…

Jase is seeing so much better and is really starting to focus. He can follow toys when I move them slowly in front of his face (which I do sometimes to help start developing his hand-eye coordination), & he is really starting to look into our eyes when we talk to him. I LOVE it!!!!

Sleep: Jase slept like an angel for us weeks 1-3. And then we got to week 4. On June 2, lil man was waking up throughout his naps and was not sleeping NEARLY as sound. He was kinda fussy during the naps and I had to go in pretty often to soothe him & get him back to sleep. I know it is SO important for them to just sleep, and I didn’t mind holding him for some extra cuddle time. It makes it tough to get anythting done, but I am just soaking it up because everything else can wait….I know it won’t be like this for long & I’ll miss these opportunities. I also think he was having a growth spurt because he was eating more often for a couple days. Still, we are working hard to implement a sleep-eat-wake schedule (encouraged by both BabyWise & our pediatrician). We started to get more consistent with it on 6/5 with a start time of 7 am.

These two look JUST like me as a baby. I totally went bald like that and he has my ears for sure…& I even kinda looked like a boy.

Nursing: Nursing continues to get easier every week!! He is so much more efficient and can nurse in about 25 minutes if he is good and awake. Sometimes he is still snoozy & I have a hard time keeping him awake, but that’s usually only 1-2 feedings throughout the day.

I am always SUPER tired for his middle of the night feeding and can barely keep my eyes open!!

What Jase is up to: Loves baths! His faces crack me up…and check out that belly! Lil man loves the milk!!

His Daddy & I have fun thinking of captions for these pictures. I mean seriously, could he be any cuter??

Also started a paci this week…and I still can’t decide how I feel about it. We only use it to soothe him when he wakes up from a nap.

Visitors: Grammy, Mary Ann, Ashley, Macie, Melissa, Janie, Joann, Dustin & Amie, Madison & Carsyn, Mimi & Papa, Jade

PostPartum: I feel pretty much back to normal now. Still sweating at night, but my body feels great & I’m more rested.

Baby Gear: Swaddle Me is officially too small (he is too long), so we ordered some Woombies (Big Baby). Still rockin’ Pampers size 1 Swaddlers. Big Jon hooked up our Angel Care monitor this week & I LOVE it!!!

Thoughts: So thankful to be chosen to be this sweet baby’s Mama. He has already brought so much joy into our lives and is so loved by his whole family!!

Such a handsome boy! Enjoy these weeks, they really do fly by. It's hard to believe when you are pregnant and people tell you, but man. I get it now too! :)

Congrats on your new bundle! We have a 11 week old baby boy and a 2 year old daughter. I loved reading what's going on with your little one, we were just there :) My son is finally starting to sleep through the night, with the help of a 'dream feed' before my husband and I go to bed.
Our naps sound very smiliar. He really likes to be held and snuggled while he sleeps, which I like resting with him too, but I have a 2 year old Daughter too. Do you swaddle for his naps? Layton hates it, but it helps.

He is so precious! I love reading your blog--it's been really helpful and fun to read--I am expecting a boy early september! just a thought about the pacifier...i am a speech pathology student finishing up extra course work in medical speech pathology, and we encourage the use of pacifiers for all babies (just not past infancy and obviously not all the time). it is really good for their oral motor development and can actually help with coordination to breast feed. also if your little one every has reflux, the pacifier for 30 minutes after a feed is helpful in keeping that at bay as it continues esophageal motion. Obviously, you don't want it to be a crutch, but they aren't bad. the Soothie one are best. hope all continues to well for you and your little one!

Did you know! The first colors babies see is red. When they are born they only see in black and white, and about 10 inches from them, as that progresses, the first color is red. I always think things like this are interesting as you watch them grow.I am a nursery nurse and love teaching these tips to new mommies!

I LOVE your weekly updates. He's so cute!! I already miss the middle of the night feedings--sort of haha. I don't miss falling asleep during them, but man they do grow fast! Sounds like you're all doing well. Yay!! Have you gone out on any ventures alone yet??

You will love the woombie. James loved his, and I loved that he couldn't break out of it. We had a regular one and the convertible one.

Our baby girl will be here in about 11 weeks and we couldn't be more excited!
