A Woman’s High Calling

We are working through a study right now in Sunday School called “A Woman’s High Calling.”

If someone asked you to list out what you feel your calling is as a woman, what would you say??

The cool thing is, the Bible gives us some instructions as ladies that we should all be working towards… (although we each have unique gifts, this should be our ultimate goal)…

The Proverbs 31 woman and the Titus 2 woman are both incredible Biblical examples of what we should be striving for in our lives. I know when I read those Scriptures, I often feel so inadequate that it seems like it’s not even worth striving for because we think there is no way we can accomplish that.  I know many women feel that way, and the truth is, we can’t….on our own.

However, as we grow in our walks and allow the Lord to mold, shape, and use us, we should begin looking more and more like these women. I just read a post yesterday from one of my favorite bloggers about how we are equipped THROUGH CHRIST to be able to accomplish these things.   For example, it’s not that God makes some women extremely patient and just leaves patience out of you. If you have Christ in you, then you have the ability to call on HIM to help you live up to the calling for your life.

Does that mean we’ll be perfect? Absolutely not. But we should still be striving to fulfill the purpose the Lord has laid out for us.

My heart’s desire is to be this woman- the Proverbs 31 and Titus 2 woman. When I read about these women in the Bible, a lady we go to church with always pops in my head. She is the most incredible wife and mother (it’s very evident if you’re ever around any of her 7 children), yet she is quiet and soft spoken. Her husband and children all think and speak very highly of her, and you can tell they mean it. She is such an awesome example to me as a young wife and future mom, and I want to be that some day as well. Of course, it takes work. It takes constantly seeking the Lord, renewing your mind, and recognizing the difference between worldly views and Godly views.

I wanted to encourage you to take some time to read these Scriptures.  Read them often. Pray about them, and ask the Lord to help you make them a reality in your life.

They are such a great reminder of our ultimate HIGH CALLING as women, and that is crucial in a time when the world is filling us with lies about who we should be.
