Baby Butler is 11 weeks!!

Baby Growth:

10-kumquat1_thumb

I like the description of a plum or lime better…I’m not really sure what that thing even is!

My Symptoms: Hallelujah!! I seriously feel like a DIFFERENT person this week!! I guess week 11 was my magic turning point. Not only has my nausea gone away (except for one night of week 11 that I thought I was going to puke), but my pants fit again! The only thing I’m dealing with now is total exhaustion, but adding back in that one Spark a day (that’s the Science/Medical advisory board’s allowance for expecting moms) has seriously CHANGED my life. Mean it. I am SO MUCH more productive and have even been back in the gym this week. OH, and I started eating veggies again! I wait till around 3:00 to take it….I wish I could have 2 because I kinda drag until I drink my Spark.

However, that whole patience thing has yet to make a comeback. I’m still easily annoyed….mostly when it comes to repeating myself. And hearing other people complain. So the two symptoms that seem to be affecting me the most are fatigue and moodiness. Please, do not complain to me or even in my presence right now…

Weight: Same…About 4-5 lbs.

Gender: Who knows!?! We still have a little while to make a decision whether or not we want to find out. I’ve heard great reasons from both sides, so I guess we’ll just make a decision as we get closer. My gut (which is usually spot on) isn’t giving me ANYTHING right now!! I have no feeling one way or the other….what do you think? Boy or girl??

Maternity Clothes: My clothes fit SO much better! Not sure if it’s from being able to squeeze in a few more workouts; eating a little bit healthier; or just from the bloating going away, but it’s nice to be more comfy in my clothes.

Movement: Nada….yet.

Sleep: I just need to go to bed earlier. I have been SO BUSY at work (actually, just busy with life in general again) that I have to stay up later than I would like to get everything accomplished. I usually go to bed around 11 or 11:30…..yikes! I am falling asleep better now though.

Cravings: I’ve moved on….from Cheez-Its, to Olive Garden salad dressing, to waffles & Apple butter, to…S’MORES!!! I make them over our as stove. YUM! Actually, I would REALLY love to have one RIGHT now!

What I miss: Shrimp. Peel n eat shrimp is one of my favorite foods, and I just don’t want to take any chances with it…

Work Outs: Yippeeee!!! Feels SO good to be back in the gym! I am just doing little mini workouts, but it’s better than nothing. Mostly walking/light jogging and some squats and pushups/upper body.

Best Pregnancy Moment This Week: Gold Rush!! I look forward to Gold Rush every year! It’s always fun seeing old friends….and I stinkin’ LOVE the lemonade and bbq sandwiches at Gold Rush! Ha! (I really need to start taking some pictures, huh??)

Questions/Concerns: I’m wondering if I can have green tea. I really miss drinking it every day. And I wanna know if I can do abs on the ball. I’ve ready not to do any exercises on your back, but I think that’s later on? The only other thing is I get a slight 2-3 second cramp in my abdomen when I stand up too fast (from either lying down or sitting for a prolonged period). I would LOVE to go to the chiropractor or to get a massage soon too….my lower back (left side) is a little tender in one spot. I’ve tried the foam roller a few times and that seems to help some. It’s probably from sleeping weird.

Goals for next week: Go to bed earlier!!

Thoughts: I still don’t necessarily “feel” pregnant, but I do think about it a lot. I love to talk to everyone about their experiences with pregnancy I can’t believe I am almost out of the first trimester!!!!

Green tea is fine!! I believe 3 servings a day. Make sure you are getting enough iron and folic acid the only issue it seems to pose is the fact that it can lower those a little and the caffeine (you'd have to have a TON of green tea for the caffeine to be an issue!) . But I have had a about a cup a day since getting out of the first trimester and it is a nice little treat! I am also sad about no shrimp; better safe than sorry!!

I am 11 weeks and 2 days and I feel the exact same way....a million times better than the past month. The nausea has majorly subsided but I do still want to sleep ALL the time. And I am still struggling with some heartburn but some medicine helps. Does your doctor not want you to eat shrimp? When I asked my doc about shrimp, lobster and crab she said it is ok if eaten once a week because it comes from a shell.... So, luckily I have not given that up! Just cut back :)

OH! And those pains are probably "round ligament pain" are they are normal, and annoying but nothing to worry about!

1. eat shrimp...it's FINE just don't eat it every single day or something crazy
2. I'm also undecided on what you're having...i was moodier with Kye but craved more sweets with britt (cosmic brownies and choc milk!)
3. go get a massage! perfectly fine!
4. do you have a pregnancy pillow? mine is a bumpil...it's expensive (like $50 or so) but WORTH IT. I LOVE it and it really helps me find a comfortable sleeping position
5. have you given more thought to the bradley method??? i'm here to help!!!!!

You can still eat shrimp and other types of fish. They just advise you limit your intake each week.

Check this from Mayo clinic:

Here, Roger Harms, M.D., a pregnancy specialist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., and medical editor of "Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy," offers practical advice about pregnancy and fish.

What's the link between pregnancy and fish?

Seafood can be a great source of protein and iron — crucial nutrients for your baby's growth and development. In addition, the omega-3 fatty acids in many fish can promote your baby's brain development.

But some types of seafood — particularly large, predatory fish such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish — may contain high levels of mercury. Although the mercury in seafood isn't a concern for most adults, special precautions apply if you're pregnant or planning to become pregnant. If you regularly eat fish high in mercury, the substance can accumulate in your bloodstream over time. In turn, too much mercury in your bloodstream could damage your baby's developing brain and nervous system.

How much seafood is recommended?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) say pregnant women can safely eat up to 12 ounces (340 grams) of seafood a week. Similarly, the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend 8 to 12 ounces of seafood a week for pregnant women — or about two average meals.

Not all researchers agree with these limits, however, citing a study that noted no negative effects for women who ate more seafood than the FDA-approved guidelines.

What's safe to eat?

Choose seafood that's low in mercury, such as:

Shrimp
Crab
Salmon
Pollock
Catfish
Cod
Tilapia
Canned light tuna is another good choice — but limit albacore tuna, chunk white tuna and tuna steak to no more than 6 ounces, or 170 grams, a week.

Congrats on the pregnancy!!! Sooo I have had two kiddos and you absolutely for sure can drink green tea. You can even drink coffee just maybe only one cup a day. Caffeine is ok in small amounts. And- FOR SURE you can do ab workouts!!! I did planks the entire time and yoga, spinning and actually ran 5 miles the day I went into labor with my 2nd!!! I worked out the entire 9 months of both of my pregnancies and had natural childbirth and felt great and recovered really quickly. Actually the nausea went away if I worked out- It was just talking myself into doing it- but once I started to sweat- i always felt better- like WAY better. The pain you feel when you get up is probably round ligament pain- you can google it- but its just things starting to move and stretch in there! You will feel ALL SORTS of weird things during this period in your life! haha! Its amazing what our bodies can do and go through. There are so many new things to learn! How exciting for you! Just remember that - that baby is super tucked in there and very protected. You need to be careful but honestly- you don't need to be over the top-- Your body is designed for this and the baby is surrounded by a nice protective home :) How exciting for you and your husband! Cherish it- because it seems like forever while you are pregnant but once its over- you realize how fast its gone! And it is such a cool experience!!!!!!
