We Are Not Promised Tomorrow..

Tonight we celebrated mine and my mother-in-law’s birthday with my hubby’s family. Our birthdays are one day apart- hers is August 5th & mine is the 6th.

Happy Birthday, Donna!!

While eating dinner, I received a text from one of my best friends to please pray for her husband. He had a major health scare and was in the ER. We went to the hospital immediately, and praise the Lord, everything was okay.

Man, what a scare though.

Our Sunday school lesson this morning was about this very topic- why we should live with eternity in mind. I know sometimes I allow myself to get so busy, so caught up in planning for the future, or worked up sweating the small stuff…and when things like this happen, it totally shifts our perspective. It makes us realize how insignificant most of our worries are, and the importance of each and every day.

Matthew 6:34

I am so beyond thankful our friend is okay!!

And I hate that it takes scares like this to catch my attention and remind me of what is truly important in life.

I’m turning 27 this birthday…and as much as I hope and pray I live to be a sweet little old lady, I know that we do not know the day nor the hour….and none of us are promised tomorrow. Just as I told my Sunday school girls this morning, I need to live each day in preparation for eternity. Sharing and showing Jesus to everyone I meet. Striving to be more like Christ and seeking Him in all I do (even the little things). Loving my friends, family, and even strangers, deeply. Do lots more giving, forgiving, and praying. A lot less worrying, arguing, and stressing. Find the blessings in each day. Give this precious man an extra hug and kiss every chance I get…

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”  -James 4:13-16

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ... “ –Matthew 6:25-34

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
