That time I fell…and more beach pics!

Oh wait, WHICH time??

I don’t know WHY I am so clumsy, but seriously, it is a problem. I’m going to call Advocare headquarters and see if the doctors/scientists can develop a product to help me! Ha!!

So here’s how my latest injury went. I didn’t do much exercising this past week at the beach because I really wanted to give my body a week of rest. I have KILLED it in the gym for the past few months, pushing my body to extremes, so I needed the break.

One evening, Big Jon, me, and my nephew Dustin all decided to go on a little jog. Dustin and I ran while Jon rode the bike that was in the garage at the house we rented. He was way too big for it and the back tire was partially flat….it was hilarious!

Anyway, while running, I decided we should make it a HIIT workout. I told Dustin to sprint to the stop sign. He is SUPER fast and totally smoked me! I was almost to the stop sign and slowing down, when I started to picture Big Jon behind us, pedaling as FAST as he could go, knees practically in his face, with a half flat tire. Hilarious mental picture!! Anyway, I got tickled thinking about it and stopped concentrating on the uneven path below me….not a smart move. And you can guess what happened next. I wiped the heck out. (We were less than 5 minutes into our run.)  I just laid there for a good couple minutes, almost in shock. I don’t know why- it’s NOT like this is the first time that has happened. I was trying to determine if it was worth the tears I was really wanting to let out….

The boys checked on me and did a good job holding back the laughter.

I got up and kept going like a trooper….and we finished it out strong. But I did take a pretty serious chunk out of my left hand!

At least I was able to catch myself and it was just my hands….not my teeth! (I do have a scrape on my hip too….awesome.)

I will say this though. It had made me REALLY thankful for my hands!! I couldn’t/can’t wash my own hair or body in the shower, (Big Jon gladly stepped up to the plate on that one!), open my own water bottles, and I still can’t do pushups or planks.

Is it sad that I’m not even embarrassed when I fall anymore? My main concern now is “How bad have I hurt myself this time? Please Lord, don’t let anything be broken.”

Enough about my clumsiness….I just had to share that story. Here are a few other beach pics from my phone I wanted to share…

If it is any consolation, I am forever finding bruises and scrapes and usually, I have no idea how I came to be in possession of these little to huge boo boos. I grew up surrounded by lots of boys, so I just shake it off and move on. :-p I hope your hands heal quickly.

I saw your post on SR and just wanted to say you are very inspiring! The same happened to me with the 12-14 lb weight gain after my first marathon. It feels like a never ending battle, so thanks for the inspiration.
Oh, and my first marathon was also the Savannah RnR and then I also ran the Miami ING Half, so we are like 2 ships passing in the night. Except it was really crowded and during the day. :-)

Sorry about your hands! I do stuff like that all the time too. Well...I mostly walk into walls and tables.

Those crabs look delicious! I am so glad I found your blog so I can follow :)

I just clicked over to your blog after reading your post on SR. Have you tried doing planks on your forearms? your arms bent at the elbow and pushing up from the forearm instead of the hand? You can keep your hands sideways so the pinky side of your hand is what touches the floor. You can also put your forearms on a bosu ball. No idea if that will help or not. Also, loving the workout posts that you have. I just saw one arm workout and I see you have some more. Keep those coming! I love new ideas!
