As do all teachers, I LOVE Spring Break!! It is a much needed break and totally rejuvenates me so I can make it through the rest of the year strong.
I wasn’t planning on going anywhere this year and I actually had a pretty big to-do list, but Mom invited me on a last minute trip for two nights to Hilton Head. Um, hello! Quality time with my mom + the beach?? DUH!!!!
We invited two of our best friends to join us- Gloria & Lacy! They are some of our long time best friends and we used to go on mother/daughter getaways when we were younger, but haven’t been in a while. I’m so thankful they were able to come with us!
We packed up the card and headed out…and it was so ridiculous! Seriously, 4 ladies, only 2 nights, and we couldn’t even see out the back!
As soon as we arrived we walked around & checked out the property. We stayed at the Westin- it was gorgeous! I’m sure I’m the only dork who takes pictures of the gym, but I was PUMPED about how nice it was! (Unfortunately I never ended up using it….dang!) I’m sure someone will appreciate those pics!
And we walked out on the beach before dinner!! Photo opp, of course.
REUNITED at last!!!! I love our mother/daughter time!!
(I don’t know if she’d get mad at me for posting her age, but I’m going to….Can you believe Gloria is 71???? FO REAL!!! She looks phenomenal, doesn’t she? She doesn’t look/act a day over 50!!! I hope I’m like that!)
“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.” –Titus 2:3-5
SO thankful for these two wise women!!
Love my Lacy!! She’s always been like a little sister to me…
Ummm, helloooooo skinny!! Mom looks smokin’ in her skinny jeans! I really love those pictures of her!
BFFs!
Mother/Daughter Love!!
Cool fact: Lacy was adopted too and we have a TON in common!!! Our stories are very similar, and we have always been extra close because we can relate on that issue. It’s always neat to share our stories and have talks with our moms. It’s definitely a special bond we all share.
Hilton Head was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
The next morning we woke up bright and early and had a delicious breakfast, which was followed by a massage at the spa. I had two massages while we were there….Yes, 2 in 2 days. Spoiled, huh? I don’t splurge often, but I thought I should treat myself since it was Spring Break!!
We enjoyed a day at the pool and I got some quality time to talk to Mom while Gloria and Lacy walked the beach. I have been wanting to ask Mama some questions about my adoption story, and this gave us the perfect time to talk. We laughed, cried, and bonded.
The Lord has laid it on my heart to share my adoption story, so I wanted to get some details before putting it together. It really is such a special testimony and made me love and appreciate my life and my mom even more! What a blessing she is! (Just wait till you read it….coming soon!)
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Crazy Crab (I think that’s what it was called) over by the Marina. Seriously, is there anything better than good seafood at the beach?? (And tan legs?)
I am SO thankful for a relaxing few days and some quality time with some important people in my life!! I loved spending time with some of my favorite gals and getting to talk with them about some things I’ve been dealing with lately. It was definitely a much needed, therapeutic trip.
Makes me pumped to go back for our family vacation this summer! Big Jon and I WILL be bringing our sweet Wal-Mart bikes to ride around the island!

My husband and I are both from Hilton Head! We both lived there for 11 years. My parents still live there and I love going back to visit. I was just there last weekend and will be there again next weekend.
Josh and I used to watch this TV show (on netfilx) called Heavy - the title is pretty explanatory, overweight people were sent to a place to learn about healthy living and put their body to the test often losing up to or more than 100 pounds! Anyways, the show used to health facilities for their filming, one was in Texas and the other was on HH Island! They used bike riding a lot! In fact on of the girls and one of the coaches rode from HHI to Alpharetta (or somewhere around there) as her big finale. Just thought I'd share that fun lil' tidbit haha. Glad to see you girls enjoyed the sunshine - I haven't seen Gloria in years, you and Lacey both look a lot like your mothers! Strange how that works sometimes. Can't wait to hear your adoption story.
Ah I love Hilton Head! My family goes often, and just my mom and I have taken many a spring break there. Something about the calm beaches, great shopping and beautiful outdoors makes it very easy for mother-daughter bonding :) Glad to see you had such a nice time!
My family has been going to HHI since I was teeny tiny. It's where I learned to walk :) We'll be headed there in September for a week long family reunion! Yay!
