Favorite Bible Studies & Devotions

Thought I'd share some of my favorite Bible studies and devotions....

Experiencing God.
Best Bible study I've ever done, by far. Brought me so much closer in my relationship with the Lord and truly allowed me to "Experience God" in a way I never had before. It changed how I view God and how I react to my circumstances and problems in my life.

David: Seeking a Heart Like His
So, so good! I loved seeing God's grace and mercy towards David, and learning about his life beyond being a shepard, king, and defeating Goliath.  It's awesome to see David, a man chosen by the Lord, screwed up so many times and in the big ways I do, but God forgave Him, loved him anyway, continued to use him, and still called him "a man after His own heart."

The book of Ephesians.
We studied it verse by verse directly from the Word, and it changed my life...Especially in understanding what submission really means and how God desires us to have order in our families. I've always believed society's lies about submission- that being submissive means being a "slave wife who does everything her husband tells her" (okay, that's  a little exaggerated, but you get my drift!), until this study. I appreciate my husband's role as protector, provider, and spiritual leader, and understand I was not designed to have the role. So yes, ladies, we need to get over our "I wear the pants in this marriage" mindset and be submissive in the way God has called us to be.  Otherwise, things will be out of order in our home, and that's why so many of our families are living in chaos.  I also enjoyed learning how God puts husband and wife together and desires that their relationship be first priority. So many times I see wives put their kids first, allow the kids to rule the home and make decisions, and be "friends" with their children rather than parents. Ephesians taught me the truth of how God desires the family to operate. (I bet that stepped on some parents' toes.)
And I'm starting a new one, but can't claim it as a fave yet because I'm not done....I'll let ya know.

My two FAVORITE devotions:
Jesus Calling
By Sarah Young. Fell in love with it at the cottage and then Dana bought it for me for Christmas. I read it EVERY DAY! LOVE IT!

and one I've had for forever- and oldie but goodie....

And I just wanted to include a few other favorite reads...
3 of my FAVORITE books!
If you're looking for a new read, I STRONGLY recommend these...
And one that will challenge you...
Happy reading/studying!!

I couldn't agree more about the family thing! Matt and I decided before we had children that the most important thing that we could give our children was the view that it was the two of us first and they were a God-designed off shoot of our love. It's much easier to keep a family in tact when you take the time to be a strong couple first!
